Much of my time is devoted to music. In my local community, I play with several groups, mostly on trombone and piano. I also conduct in a few venues, and I also orchestrate and arrange pieces of music from time to time. As I continue to develop this page, I will include information regarding the various groups I work with and the projects I am working on.
Following is a brief list of the groups I perform with and an idea of the places we perform:
- Yampa Valley Brass
- This brass quintet performs at a number of events in the Craig community. These include performing before community concert events, Memorial Day, and several events for Christmas including playing for the senior citizens' homes and the town's Festival of Trees.
- Cedar Mountain Ensemble
- This is a unique small ensemble comprised of four violins, a viola, two celli, a flute, a horn, and a keyboard. This ensemble plays at similar venues to the Yampa Valley Brass, along with the addition of playing a couple times a year at another senior citizen home in the neighboring town of Hayden. Also, both groups perform annually at the local First Congregational Church for an ice cream social.
- Christmas Cantata
- This is actually a performance rather than an ensemble. For the last three years, I have helped in the organization and conducting of a group that performs a Christmas Cantata for the local community. This year we will be performing Joseph M. Martin's Let There Be Christmas.
As for orchestrations and arragements, I am working on the following:
- Edvard Grieg's Holberg's Time for the Cedar Mountain Ensemble
- Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sicut locutus est" from his Magnificat also for the Cedar Mountain Ensemble
- Movements from Camille Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals, again for the Cedar Mountain Ensemble
